Infrastructure Improvements: Transforming Our Data Center for Tomorrow!

Hosterium core network is built on Cisco ASR Routers and Cisco Nexus Switches.

Cisco ASR (Aggregation Services Routers) and Nexus Switches are distinct, high-performance hardware platforms designed for different network roles: ASRs are primarily for WAN edge, service provider, and enterprise routing, while Nexus switches are optimised for data center switching, high-density 10/40/100/400GbE, and virtualisation.

Purpose of Cisco ASR (1000, 9000 Series):

Wide Area Network (WAN) Edge, Aggregation, Service Provider Core. Key Capabilities: Deep packet inspection, MPLS, high-level security, large routing tables, and extensive WAN throughput. Focus: Managing WAN traffic and connecting to internet/cloud providers.

Purpose of  Cisco Nexus (9000 Series):

Data Center Core and Distribution, High-performance LAN. Key Capabilities: High-density 10/40/100/400GbE, VDC (Virtual Device Contexts), vPC (Virtual Port Channel), and FCoE. Focus: Low-latency switching within the data center, spine-leaf architecture (NX-OS or ACI mode).
